South Africa-based chanter, Teban Cee, says he is homesick and hopes to be reunited with his kith and kin.

Born Simbarashe Jacha, the chanter said his wish is to come back home and record more songs.

“I have spent more than a decade in South Africa. I came here in 2008 and I have recorded several songs while I was here, but I think it will be a different case when I am back home. I have started a business here, but home is always the best.

“I want to educate people through music and also entertain them, and the best place is Zimbabwe.

“I also want to be accepted back home and I think if I come back, I will be able to mix and mingle with people so that I produce what they want,” he said.

The 33-year-old entertainer also said he had recorded a love song titled ‘‘Been around the world’’ featuring Tinquisha.

“February is known as the month of love so I have decided to drop a song which promotes love. The song ‘Been around the world’ is a love song which I wrote for my wife. I had a terrible love life before I met her. I found myself in hospital suffering from depression just because of love, but now love located me. I found a person who loves and cares so much for me.

“So in the song I am saying, I have been around the world, I have been with different girls, but she cannot be compared with my past relationships,” he said.

The song was recorded by l Ghanaian producer Aaron Dugud and it has an accompanying video to complement the audio.

Asked about the challenges he is facing, he said it has been a difficult situation for him to be accepted in Zimbabwe because he sings in English.

“I have performed extensively in South Africa which also saw me being nominated for Raggae Awards in 2017 and also best foreign-based artist (Zim dancehall awards) same year.

“Ever since I started music, I have always been writing music in English and I just have a few in Shona,” he said.

“I have started my own record label called TeamVibesyMusic Group and I have a few artistes under the stable.

“The plan is to build a big studio which will benefit many. We have been holding our own events with a live Kachaka Band and we are also using a band from Boksburg AFM Church.”

Teban Cee also said he gets inspiration from life’s events. “My life’s events have been my biggest inspiration.

“What I have been through, what I am going through and what is happening in my surroundings. A dream delayed is not a dream denied. I encourage everyone never to give up on anything you have started.

“It’s not going to be easy, it’s darkest before dawn,” he said.

Besides music, Teban Cee is also an entrepreneur who is the director of a transport and logistics company called Seja Transport and Logistics. Some of his previous songs include ‘‘Unospaka’’ featuring Trevor Dongo, ‘‘What’s Love’’, featuring ShaSha, ‘‘My year’’ and ‘‘BadBoi Zimbo’’ featuring Seke Mutema, among others.

He also collaborated with Jamaican chanters in the song ‘‘Slow wine’’ featuring Egyptian, ‘‘Vibesy’’ featuring Medisun, ‘‘My type’’ featuring Medisun and ‘‘I don’t know’’ featuring Peppery.
