SA group Ihhashi thrills delegates

which is hugely popular in KwaZulu Natal.
The dazzling performance saw guests, among them Industry and Commerce Deputy Minister Mike Bimha, his South African counterpart Elizabeth Thabethe,  and several other government officials from the two countries getting down on the dance floor at a dinner held at the Meikles Hotel.
The group, which was part of the South African delegation, showcased unity in diversity and took pride in their culture to wow both South African and Zimbabwean audiences with their magical touch.
The crowd had a great time singing along to traditional classics like “Shosholoza”.
Bheki Ngcobo, the leader of the group who fathered his own genre called “kwai-maskandi”, a blend of maskandi music and South Africa’s  popular kwaito music.
Among his attributes, Ngcobo is largely seen as South Africa’s ambassador whose continued vision is to globalise African tradition and culture through traditional music and dance.
He has constantly innovated his music to remain a modern and relevant mouthpiece. Over the years he has stood the test of time as a solo artiste.
Through his creative and innovative collaborations with young popular musicians has managed to attract young people into maskandi music.
A look at his biography shows a musician with a rich African tradition and background. He started out in 1975 as a member of the Mthembu Queens before joining the Soul Brothers while doubling up at a lead singer for the group Imitjotjovu.
In 1986 he went solo using his herd boy name “Ihhashi Elimhlope” and since then he has never looked back. Over the years, his career profile blossomed into a powerful household brand.
Ngcobo has since collaborated with music maestros such as the late Jabu Khanyile, Brothers of Peace, Malaika, Mafikizolo, Boom Shaka, Zola, Busi Mhlongo, Zulu Boy, Bongo Muffin and Malini to name a few.
Ihhashi has performed for dignitaries such as kings, queens, presidents, business people, ambassadors and many more.
