Organisers said they are expecting high-level competition during the three-day tournament sponsored by Leabridge Technologies.
Churchill, Lomagundi, Prince Edward, St. Georges and St. John’s College are expected to fly the Zimbabwe flag high.
Four primary schools — Lilfordia, Springvale, Ruzawi and St. John’s Prep – have also been invited to showcase their talents as curtain raisers at the event.
Steven Saffin, one of the organisers, said the festival was not just about winning.
“We are happy to host the first edition of the Schools Rugby Challenge.
“We are looking forward to the festival and we hope will run the festival annually,” said Saffin.
Mbare Academy, which offer opportunities to the underprivileged, is the only academy that has been roped in and they will play Ruzawi.
Raymond Kazembe, the managing director of Leabridge Technologies, said they were happy to be involved in the Schools Rugby Challenge as they wanted to play their part in developing the game.
“We are very happy to be part of the festival and we are delighted to sponsor the young players because we believe that every young player wants to become a hero in future.
“So we have provided the sports kits and some money to help develop our local talented players,” said Kazembe.
Leabridge Technologies, a company that specialises in electronics security, are the many sponsors of the festival.

Tuesday 26: SACS v St John’s College, Lomagundi v St Andrews.
Thursday 28: SACS v Churchill, St Andrews v Prince Edward, Pretoria v St George’s.
Saturday 30: St Andrews v St George’s, SACS v Prince Edward, Pretoria Boys v St John’s College.
