THE Sables are back on the hunt!

Zimbabwe’s senior men’s rugby team begins its quest for a spot at the 2027 Rugby World Cup this morning with a quarter-final clash against Morocco in the opening round of the 2025 Rugby Africa Cup in Uganda.

With only one golden ticket to Australia on offer, every tackle counts and the Sables know it.
“We’re ready. The boys are in a good space,” declared head coach Pieter Benade, oozing confidence as the defending champions gear up for what promises to be a bruising contest.

Zimbabwe last featured at the Rugby World Cup in 1991 and are desperate to end that decades-long drought. Today’s showdown at 10am, which can be streamed on RugbyPass, is the first major step toward that dream.

Should the Sables tame the North Africans, they will meet the winner of the Kenya vs Uganda grudge match in the semi-finals — a clash that could become a classic.

Sables Starting XV vs Morocco:
Victor Mupunga, Simba Mandioma, Cleopas Kundiona, Kudakwashe Nyakufaringwa, Simba Siraha, Tinotenda Mavesere, Godfrey Muzanargwo, Jason Fraser, Hilton Mudariki (captain), Ian Prior, Edward Sigauke, Kudzai Mashawi, Brandon Mudzekenyedzi, Trevor Gurwe, Tapiwa Mafura
Impact Players:
Liam Larkan, Tyran Fagan, Bornwell Gwinji, Aiden Burnett, Dylan Utete, Keegan Joubert, Dion Khumalo, Takudzwa Musingwini
The battle lines are drawn — and the Sables are ready to roar!
