Sables coach yet to report for duty

yesterday still to report for camp and his assistant Cyprian “Supa” has been taking charge of the training sessions at Harare Sports Club since the side got into camp on Friday.
According to team manager, Losson Mtongwiza, Dawson has family commitments and will be available to take the side through their paces just on the final day of training before he names the travelling party.
This is not the fist time that the former Sables forward has not been available for national training camps and last year he failed to travel to Uganda for the Africa Cup Group 1B tournament because of family commitments.
But it latter emerged that Dawson was not able to travel with the side due to business commitments.
There have been questions on Dawson’s commitment to the Sables as he usually leaves most of the work to the assistant coach and team manager Mtongwiza and arriving only to pick the travelling party. “The coach will definitely be in for tomorrow’s training sessions because he has family commitments,” said Mtongwiza.
The Sables were also expected to be working with South African forwards and fitness coach Nico de Villiers but he was a no show. The final squad is expected to be named this afternoon.
Two players, including Harare Sports Club centre Daniel Hondo, yesterday sat out of training while wing Wensely Mbanje was visiting the doctor because of knee problems. Jacque Leitao has not been attending training sessions due to work commitments.
But there was a lot of activity on the field with scrummy Scotty Jones showing a lot of zeal and power bigger than his body size on the rucks.
Lenience Tambwera, Shayne Makombe, Biselele Tshamala also impressed.
Mandenge said he was impressed with the crop of players in camp.
“We have brilliant players in our squad and not having the foreign-based players is going to test our depth and ability and this could be the perfect chance for other payers to show what they are made of.
“They are good enough to do duty in Namibia and so far the training sessions have gone well,” said the former Harare Sports Club and University of Zimbabwe coach.
