Sadc Council of Ministers highlights need for peace

The opening ceremony of the Sadc Council of Ministers is underway at the ongoing Extraordinary Summit of the Sadc’s Heads of State and Government at the new Parliament building in Mt Hampden.

The summit has been convened to discuss the security situation in eastern DRC.

Sadc’s Executive Secretary, Mr Elias Makgosi glgave an update on various initiatives that have been taken to bring peace to the eastern part of DRC.

In his welcome remarks, Foreign Affairs and International Trade Minister, Professor Amon Murwira emphasised the importance of peace for the region to achieve its development agenda.

He concluded by thanking everyone who has made sacrifices for the sake of achieving peace in eastern DRC.
