Sadc Double Troika meets in Botswana

Gaborone. — The Extraordinary Summit of the Southern Africa Development Community Double Troika convenes in Botswana.

The Extraordinary Summit is anticipated to discuss and consider the political and security situation in the Sadc region, paying particular attention to the Kingdom of Lesotho.

South Africa is participating in the Summit in its capacity as the outgoing Chairperson of the Sadc Organ on Politics, Defence and Security Cooperation. The Double Troika is made up of Botswana, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Mozambique, South Africa and Tanzania.

Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa is also attending in his capacity as the Sadc-appointed Facilitator on the situation in Lesotho.

Zuma is accompanied by Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Ms Maite Nkoana-Mashabane; Minister Defence and Military Veterans, Ms Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula and Minister of State Security David Mahlobo. — Agencies.
