Sadc Electoral Observation Mission engages electoral stakeholders in Madagascar

THE Sadc Electoral Observation Mission (SEOM) in Madagascar is actively engaging with the electoral stakeholders to assess the conformity of the electoral process in the Sadc island.

Madagascar is holding its legislative elections today.

Posting on its official website, Sadc said the head of the mission, Justice Florence Mumba led the SEOM delegation to conduct engagements with stakeholders.

“As part of the programme for consultations with key electoral stakeholders in the Republic of Madagascar during the margins of the Legislative Elections scheduled for 29th May 2024, the Honourable Ms. Justice Florence Mumba, Head of Sadc Electoral Observation Mission (SEOM) to Madagascar, led the SEOM delegation to conduct engagements with stakeholders,” Sadc said

“Amongst various engagements conducted during the week, the SEOM met with the police, political parties, African Union Election Observation Mission, women’s associations, the National Assembly and the representative of the United Nations Development Programme.”

The regional bloc said these stakeholder engagements were carried out in accordance with the Sadc standard practice of observing elections in Member States.

The consultations will continue until 30th May 2024, except on the day of voting.
