Zimbabwe is set to host the SADC 2026 Sustainable Energy Week from February 23 to 27 next year in Victoria Falls, a Cabinet Minister has said.
The major regional conference is a joint initiative of the SADC Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (SACREEE), the Government of Zimbabwe, and the SADC Secretariat.
Running under the theme “Driving Regional Economic Growth through Clean Energy and Energy Efficiency,” the conference is expected to attract over 800 delegates from across the region, including SADC energy ministers, the SADC Executive Secretary, international investors, entrepreneurs, and sector regulators.
The event is designed to promote the market-based uptake of renewable energy and energy efficiency throughout the region.
Speaking during a Press conference held today, Energy and Power Development Minister July Moyo highlighted the event’s importance.
“The regional Sustainable Energy Week seeks to focus our attention and energies in pursuit of the African agenda,” Minister Moyo said.
“The SADC Protocol on Energy intends to promote the harmonious development of national energy policies, and we do this by holding regular meetings of SADC’s ministers of energy.”
The conference follows the successful inaugural event held in Botswana in 2024 and underscores the SADC region’s ongoing commitment to sustainable energy development.
The programme will feature a range of activities, including high-level presentations, interactive panel discussions, networking sessions, workshops, and exhibitions, all aimed at advancing sustainable energy solutions for the region’s prosperity.
