Saints, Monoz draw

ZIMBABWE SAINTS and Monomotapa shared the spoils in an eventful Castle Lager Premiership at Luveve yesterday.
Monomotapa were first on the score sheet through Joseph Mutambiranwa in the 24th minute while the hosts got their equaliser twelve minutes later from Ntokozo Tshuma.
The match started with Saints piling pressure on the visitors who conceded two corners in the first five minutes of the tie.
Saints looked dangerous in attack with skillful left link, Humphrey ‘Muchichwa’ Ncube, proving a handful.
The Young Warrior has a cultured left foot that constantly threatened to carve open the Monos defence.
In the ninth minute, an inswinger by Gift Phiri to the near post was almost buried by Abraham Mbaiwa, but the former Highlanders’ forward saw his effort crash against the upright.
Then came the goals and, in the end, a draw was a fair result.
Saints’ coach Willard Mashinkila-Khumalo was happy with the result considering he was missing several of his key players.
The injury list includes Tafadzwa Maingire, Philip Sithole and Isaac Pitamuja.
Captain Danisa Phiri was also missing as he was mourning his late brother who passed away last week.
