SAKUBVA Stadium has taken delivery of bucket seats, a development that is expected to kick-start the facility’s facelift.
The project is expected to significantly transform the venue and give it a new lease of life.
City of Mutare principal communications officer Charles Sadondo said preliminary works have already started.
“The Sakubva Stadium upgrade project is expected to gather momentum following the delivery of the much-awaited bucket seats. The newly delivered seats will cover the entire stadium, and a significant transformation is anticipated once installation is complete. The contractor is already on site carrying out surface preparation works in readiness for the installation process,” he said.
Sadondo added other major refurbishments have been earmarked for the stadium.
“Work is also underway to redesign the stadium, including improving seating capacity, upgrading the VIP section, refurbishing changing rooms, expanding the car park, and increasing entry and exit points. City of Mutare has been rehabilitating and remodelling the stadium through an incremental approach over the years. This project is in line with our vision of transforming Sakubva Stadium into a facility suitable for hosting international matches once renovations are complete,” said Sadondo.
He commended residents and other stakeholders for playing their part through paying bills and meeting other obligations to enable the local authority deliver improved service delivery.
