Sakubva urban renewal face funding constraints

Post Reporter

Lack of funds has delayed the commencement of the Sakubva Urban Renewal Project, an initiative set to modernize the old suburb and turn Mutare into a Smart City.

Mutare Mayor Councillor Blessing Thandi said plans are now in progress to seek various investors for the project to kick start.

The project is expected to give the city’s oldest suburb a major facelift, which will see the phased demolition of substandard old houses and the building of modern flats, along with an upgraded market and refurbished social amenities.
