MANICALAND’S flagship netball team, Santa Queens, are making their mark in the Rainbow Netball League (RANL), surging to third place after a thrilling victory over highly fancied Black Mambas over the weekend.

The Fre8Zone-sponsored outfit edged Black Mambas 39-35 in a closely contested match played in Shamva.

Santa Queens wing attack, Moreblessing Madanha, was named player of the match, while talented shooter Merjury Murimirofa claimed the golden hand award, scoring 19 goals.

In the same Shamva bubble, Santa Queens dominated hosts Filchrist, winning 49-28. Goal defender Persevve Tabvuruwona was named best player, while Murimirofa reclaimed the golden hand award with 16 goals.

Correctional Netball Club and Glow Petroleum Netball Club occupy the top two spots. However, Santa Queens must maintain their momentum going into this weekend’s bubble, as GreenFuel Netball Club and Flow Angels, in fourth and fifth place, respectively, have two and one games in hand.

Crosstown rivals Tenax Queens are struggling, currently eighth on the latest log standings.
