Sanyati woman up for murdering rival suitor

A 38-year-old woman has been arrested in Sanyati on allegations of killing another woman after accusing her of having an affair with her husband.

The incident occurred on November 24, this year and the victim Cynthia Ziware (37) died on Saturday after succumbing to the injuries she had sustained after being assaulted by the suspect Lydia Phiri (38).

National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the arrest.

“Police in Sanyati have arrested Lydia Phiri aged 38 in connection with a case of murder which occurred in Village 20B Tom Dryer, Sanyati in which Cynthia Ziware aged 37, died on December 2, 2023.

“The suspect had allegedly assaulted the victim on November 24, 2023, using a stick and stones after accusing the victim of having an affair with her husband.

“The victim sustained some head injuries which led to her death,” he said.
