BLACK Rhinos midfielder, Gift Saunyama, says it feels good to be back playing football again after almost a two-year absence.
Saunyama had stopped playing professional football because of Covid-19 to pursue other projects away from the game.
“It feels good to be back because I missed football a lot.
“I wasn’t really happy and realised that I needed to finish what I started for me not to live with regrets.
“When I stopped playing, I had started a few projects which needed my presence to monitor.
“I also wanted to pursue my other career.
“I graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce Honours Degree in Marketing and a Post Grad Diploma in Customer Relations Management.
“Those lockdown days opened my eyes as there was no football action, so I thought it was a perfect chance for a career change,” he said.
He has now re-joined Black Rhinos on a two-year deal and said he chose them because he understands their culture.
“There were so many offers, but Rhinos is my home and I didn’t want a new team where it would have taken me time to adapt to their culture.
“It feels good to have re-joined Rhinos and I want to stay for a long time with them because they gave me another chance.
“My objective this season is to enjoy myself and to help guide my younger teammates to achieve what I failed to achieve.
“I know I was not playing professionally for about two years, but I was active because I really love football.
“The pre-season camp in Gweru really helped me to shape up.
“When you are in camp, you have enough time to train and get to your level best. ,” said Saunyama.
