MANICALAND continues to make significant strides in the provision of antiretroviral drugs (ARVs) and this has seen an increase of antiretroviral therapy (ART) coverage for both adults and children in the province, the Minister of Manicaland Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Honourable Nokhuthula Matsikenyeri, has said.

She made the revelation in her speech during the belated World Aids Day celebrations held in Mutare recently.

Minister Matsikenyeri said the province was targeting to reach 95 percent ART coverage from the current 85.2 percent.

“When it comes to ARVs provision, Manicaland managed to make positive strides. There was a general increase in ART coverage for both adults and children. The province, therefore, is scaling up its ARVs provision in efforts to mitigate the impact of HIV on people. We are targeting to scale ART coverage from the current 85.2 percent to 95 percent,” said Minister Matsikenyeri.

Zimbabwe continues to move towards reaching the epidemic control phase by implementing high impact geo-targeted interventions.
