Anne Ruthenburg Fashion and Beauty
Hello there folks, I have waited the whole year for the end of this year kikiki imagine. Now it is here and I am so excited that you have no idea. I have chosen my Christmas party, graduation celebration, special birthday, office party, New Year’s Eve outfits and I’m ready to party till the end of the year. How about you?
This week I am ending the year with the following letter.
Hey Anne, I am an 18 year old girl, and I am doing upper six at Gideon Mhlanga high in Chipinge. I accidentally burnt myself with cooking oil whilst cooking and I had to spend 1 good month in hospital. I am a talented and pretty girl and am good at singing and acting.
I have 10 songs waiting to be released but my parents cannot afford to sponsor me with resources to pursue my music carrier as well as education so am now focused on my academics. I want to become a star because they say that my music is good. Because of the scars that I got from the accident, my confidence is now lessened. I now feel less important and ugly so please if you know of any cream or any medication that helps to clear the dark marks on my skin please help me.
At school, I now stay with long jerseys, no matter how hot it would be to cover up my ruined once pretty arms. My hands need serious attention. Please, please, please sis help me if you can I beg you. I will be forever grateful because this will be as good as saving my life. I feel like I am dead inside like it’s not the real pretty Brenda the world used to know. I plead with you Sis if u can help in anyway please do so. I will be eagerly waiting to hear from you.
Hello dear, I am so very sorry for your misfortunate incident. But I am glad you have recovered from the injuries, although there are still scars. Yes scars go deeper than the skin surface they go deep into the soul. I know this because I too had scars from an accident, and I too was a singer so I too had to cover them up, but I overcame, and I want to give you advice based on my experience during that time.
Firstly I need you to know that beauty comes within my dear. Just because people look at you funny, does not mean you are not still beautiful. People will focus on what your make them focus on, in other words if you are embarrassed by your burns and scars, people will notice that and will act negatively towards you. But if you behave in a way that makes people know that the scars so not define you, then they too will start to appreciate you for your character, your voice and your intellect.
Yes this is a fashion and beauty column, but fashion and beauty mean nothing when the person I am talking too is not in the right place emotionally or physically or mentally. I always say “an angry bitter woman, will only look like a witch when she puts make-up on and dresses up…but a happy, loving woman will look like a beauty queen with the same type of make-up and outfit.” No amount of make-up or clothing can hide what is inside of a person.
The beginning of all beauty is healing, and healing starts with acknowledging that there is a problem and then dealing with it from the inside out. Once you are okay within your soul, I promise you, your body will start to heal quickly.
In the meantime my dear as you start to work on thinking and acting positively from the inside, you can try Bio Oil which is excellent for scars, burns etc. Y
ou can get it from most shops around town. It is not very cheap, but you are only supposed to use a little bit. It will soften you skin and in time the marks will fade. There are other oils out there which cause the skin to peel and therefore encourage new skin to grow, but I think for now, it is best you start with something gentle. Do not cover up you burns as they need the air and the sun to heal properly and quickly. Also remember that if you hide the scars, it will take people longer to get used to them, so it is better for you to start now. I have looked at your photo and seriously you are very pretty, so you really do not need to worry about what your arms etc look like.
Please continue to concentrate on your academics, your singing and hang around with friends who love and support you. I look forward to hearing you one day on the radio.
That’s it from me this year. God bless and Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New year!
