School appeals for help

Banket Primary School is appealing for at least $90 000 to renovate the school’s girls hostel that was gutted by fire last month. The school’s former pupils led by Ms Norleen Gomba, who are raising funds to renovate the hostel, appealed to well-wishers to partner them.

“As Banket Primary School former pupils, we have started a fundraising drive to put the school back on its feet. We are desperately appealing to the community for any contributions so that we can renovate the hostel,” she said. The fund-raising is proving to be quite a challenge in this environment, but we have managed to raise something to begin working on the roof.

“So, far we have $13 500 and our target is $100 000. We need a new roof, solar geysers, bathrooms and electrics, bedding and school sports uniforms.” Banket Primary School headmaster Mr Nelson Nzombe said they had partitioned the boys’ hostel to accommodate the girls.
