“The death toll has increased to 18. Earlier we reported that 16 people had died but two others have died in hospital,” spokesperson Tshepo Machaea.
The accident occurred in the Eastern Cape near the town of Cradock. The Mercedes Benz school bus was being “driven by the principal,” Ashraf Ismail, a spokesperson — AFP.
