SCOTTLAND GET TEAM AMBULANCE

Sports Reporter

SCOTTLAND FC have become the first domestic football club to have their own AMBULANCE.

The ambitious ZIFA Northern Region Division One club have bought a custom-made ambulance from Brazil, where their new luxury team bus is being assembled.

Yesterday, Scottland showed images of their branded ambulance with H-Metro.

Scottland’s branded ambulance is ready to be shipped to Zimbabwe while work is being finalised in the assembling of the club’s luxury coach.

Local football clubs have never considered investment into ambulances in the past.

They all hire ambulances whose presence is a requirement before matches in the Premiership and Division One leagues can start.

The clubs have spent quite a considerable fortune, over the years, on the hiring costs while Scottland will have the advantage of not only paying such costs but also owning the asset.

“To put it in lay man’s language, you can say that it’s like choosing between paying rentals for years or just spending big and owning you house,” said a local football agent, who chose not to be named as he works with a number of local clubs.

“Of course, we have to understand that all the clubs do not have similar financial resources but it is also true that we have had a number of our clubs, who have had considerable financial resources at some stage but didn’t see this as an important investment.

“These newboys are changing the game and we have seen them coming up with their own stadiums, luxury buses and now we have a team which is set to have its own team ambulance.”

Scottland, who were established at the beginning of the year, have already shown their commitment to invest in assets, including renovation of Mabvuku Stadium for them to play in their home suburb.

The club also showed images of their new luxury bus, which is being assembled in Brazil, and which is nearing completion.

Brazil manufactures various types of luxury buses and the biggest bus manufacturing company in that country is Marcopolo S.A.

It is the biggest bus car manufacturer in Southern America and is the third biggest such company in the world. The investment into the luxury bus and the ambulance also sends a message that Scottland are here for a long haul.

There has been concern, in some circles, that the club could collapse if they fail to win the sole ticket into the domestic Premiership next season.

But, a club which doesn’t have a long term vision will not be spending substantial amounts of money into such assets like a luxury team coach and an ambulance.

Scottland, who are back in league action at Rufaro this afternoon, have already invested in some high-profile players, including bringing Ronald Pfumbidzai from his stint in South Africa.
