Fungai Muderere at Barbourfields Stadium
A sixth-minute strike by Tymon Machope is all that visiting Scottland needed to go into halftime leading Chicken Inn 1-0 in a Week 30 fixture that is ongoing at Barbourfields Stadium.
Machope, good to the end of a brilliant Khama Billiat clever feed, and with Donovan Bernard to beat, the striker made no mistake from close range.
With the match just two minutes old, the hosts had asked a lot of questions from the Scottland defence only to fail to beat Nelson Chadya between the posts for the visitors.
In the second minute, Chicken Inn felt hard done by referee Mhaka Magare who turned down their penalty appeal after Kingsley Mureremba appeared to have handled the ball inside the box.
Four minutes later, Scottland struck much to the disappointment of the Chicken Inn family and their sympathisers.
In the 41st minute, Walter Musona took Gamecocks through football lessons that saw them tumble in numbers, only for his thunderbolt to be blocked by Malon Mushona with Donovan Bernard already beaten.
This a tie that has attracted a sizeable crowd at Emagumeni.
Gamecocks, who are Zimbabwe’s 2015 league champions, are on position 10 with 33 points.
Scottland are on top of the log with 56 points, one ahead of defending champions Simba Bhora who have a game in hand
The Gamecocks versus Scottland fixture is the only one slated for today with other games set to be played on Saturday and Sunday.
