This recipe combines the richness of succulent beef and the warmth of aromatic ginger to create a dish that is both simple and satisfying.
Ingredients
- One kilogramme commercial beef;
- Three tablespoons oil;
- One teaspoon salt;
- Three-quarter teaspoon ground ginger;
- One teaspoon fresh finely grated ginger;
- Two large tomatoes, grated;
- Two tablespoons tomato paste;
- 100ml tomato sauce;
- One tablespoon flour, plus three tablespoons water to make paste;
- Enough water to cover the meat
Directions
- Get your ingredients together. Cut the beef into medium-size pieces. Put it in a bowl and add salt, ginger powder and grated ginger.
Rub gently ensuring each piece is evenly seasoned.
- Heat oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Add the beef pieces in batches and fry until browned on all sides. When all the meat is browned, add the tomato paste and fry for a minute or two.
- Add the tomato sauce and grated tomatoes. Allow to cook for about five minutes.
- Add the water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low and let the meat simmer gently until the beef is done.
- Mix the flour and water to make a paste.
Pour this paste into the stew whilst simultaneously stirring. Simmer for another 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
