Central Governor and Resident Minister Martin Dinha hailed efforts by the University of Zimbabwe and Seed-Co for nurturing and fostering linkages between tertiary school and private companies in support of national socio-economic development. In a speech read on his behalf by Mazowe district administrator Mrs Sheri Nyakudya, Governor Dinha appealed for innovative support to be extended to the country’s national research and extension systems.
“Our national research and extension systems comprising universities, government research and extension departments, agricultural parastatals, including our emerging private agro-companies, are seriously under-funded to conduct research that can yield modern technologies and innovations which can drive agricultural growth and competitiveness. I urge other seed, fertiliser and agro-chemical companies in the country to come on board and provide such innovative extension support,” Governor Dinha said.
