SEKE 1 High School has continued to strive for excellence in both Ordinary and Advanced Level examinations.
At Advanced Level, the school recorded a remarkable 100% pass rate, maintained for the past two consecutive years. The Ordinary Level pass rate also improved, rising from 41% in 2024 to 44% in 2025.
In the Advanced Level results, 32 students attained 15 points and above, reflecting steady academic performance and strong teaching standards.
Under the theme “Planting Seeds of Excellence, Growing Future Leaders,” the school also highlighted its income-generating projects, including egg production and uniform manufacturing.
At the Speech and Prize Giving ceremony held on Friday, Dr Elisha Kujeke commended teachers for their dedication, commitment and tireless efforts in shaping learners’ lives.
“I am greatly honoured to be part of this momentous occasion, celebrating the achievements of our learners in both the academic and sporting arenas,” said Dr Kujeke.
He said the prize-giving ceremony marks the culmination of a journey built on discipline and hard work, adding that education goes beyond the classroom.
“Indeed, without doubt, the awarding of prizes to our deserving students on this prestigious ceremony is a shining beacon in our learners’ lives,” he said. “Education does not only happen in classrooms; it also happens in moments like these where brilliance is rewarded publicly.”
Dr Kujeke also urged learners to remain focused, work hard and avoid crime and substance abuse, saying leadership and excellence should be demonstrated through action.
In his speech, school headmaster Mr Lameck Chitongo said the school has fully embraced the Heritage-Based Curriculum, with learners studying Heritage Studies, Mathematics and Combined Science, as well as undertaking school-based projects.
He said the school’s innovation teams have won accolades throughout the year, and noted that the institution runs egg production, uniform manufacturing and poultry projects, supported by over 600 laying hens.
Plans for the future include adding more computer laboratories, constructing a school hall, and acquiring a school bus, while the installation of CCTV has improved security.
Mr Chitongo said the school is also working towards NDS2, in line with Vision 2030, with ambitions to “modernise, digitalise and foster innovation”.
He, however, said the school faces challenges such as inadequate textbooks, limited learning materials, and malfunctioning workshop and laboratory equipment, among other financial constraints.
Seke 1 High School has a staff complement of 81 teachers and 11 ancillary staff members.
Concluding his remarks, Mr Chitongo announced the untimely passing of one of their illustrious teachers, Mr Musora, who died on 20 July 2026.
