Police in Dema, Mashonaland East Province, have arrested Given Moyowasvipa after he was found skinning stolen goats.

The goats are believed to have been stolen from a farm in Headlands, Manicaland Province.

National police spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi, confirmed the incident.

“On January 15 2026, Police in Dema arrested Given Moyowasvipa (35) at Chinhanga Village, Seke for stock theft,” he said.

“The suspect was found skinning goats suspected to have been stolen at Landos Farm, Headlands on January 12, 2026. The arrest led to the recovery of seven live goats and 14 goat carcasses.”

Meanwhile, seven cattle, believed to be belonging to Koala Park Abattoir were electrocuted recently after a Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (ZESA) electricity pole fell on them.

The seven cattle were grazing in the paddock.

The incident occurred on January 10, 2026, around 5 am, when the cattle were grazing in a paddock near a ZESA power line.

The police said a ZESA pole fell due to wet ground resulting in the electrocution of the cattle.

The matter came to light after a Featherstone resident, Mr Alban Clever Dete, discovered the disaster and made a report at Featherstone police station.

Authorities are on record discouraging anyone to put structures or conduct any business near power lines.
