Selemani gamble could reap rewards for champs

FC PLATINUM are likely going to bank a huge dividend from their gamble to sign winger Jarrison Selemani from Cranborne Bullets.

On his debut for the champions, the forward was voted by the ZTN Sports team as the man-of-the-match in the 2-0 win over Bulawayo Chiefs in the Castle Challenge Cup.

The 25-year-old was a menace in the miners’ offensive unit with his pace and skill.

However, while he appears to have been warmly embraced at FC Platinum, he was rejected by his last two major clubs.

Dynamos were the first to offload the winger.

Ngezi Platinum Stars and ZPC Kariba rejected him when he went for trials, after his dismissal by the Glamour Boys.

Nesbert “Yabo” Saruchera then brought him to Cranborne Bullets.

Now, he is in the hands of Mapeza.

Last season, the former Warriors coach also did the same to Juan Mutudza and Walter Musona.

Musona went on to win the Soccer Star of the Year award.

Selemani said he was a living testimony that patience pays.

“I went through a lot after l was released by Dynamos. It affected my self-esteem and people said many negative things and I was heavily affected.

“But, if there is one thing that I didn’t lose during that phase is patience and I kept believing that it was a matter of time.”

He added:

“I tried my luck at ZPC Kariba but nothing happened and coach Rodwell Dhlakama invited me to Ngezi and the deal was very close but, unfortunately, they delayed with the paperwork.

“I was worried that if the deal doesn’t happen in time, I would be just training without having game time until the mid-season.

“There was nothing promising and that’s how I ended up at Cranborne, I felt at home and I enjoyed football and I guess it was a blessing in disguise.

“I think I have settled well here at Platinum, the environment is very good for me and I want to thank coach Mapeza for the job he has done.”
