AS the nation celebrates a special day on the Zimbabwean calendar where a Unity Accord was signed between President Mugabe and the late Vice-President, Dr Joshua Nkomo in 1987, Mutare fun lovers will be in for a rare treat when sungura virtuoso Nicholas Zakaria performs at popular entertainment centre, Club Mandisa on December 22.
Senior Lecturer, as Zakaria is fondly known, is currently riding high with his 26th album, Rumbidzo that has been received well in the local market.
He is expected to belt out hits from the album such as Rudo Runokosha, Mwari Vanogona and Pane Nyaya as well as hits from his yesteryear albums.
Zakaria, in an interview, said he was honoured to perform on a special and significant day to all Zimbabweans. He promised to put up a sterling act, urging people to come in their numbers and celebrate together.
“It is a wonderful feeling to note that I will play as a main act in Mutare on a special day. The Khiama Boys entourage is ready to do what it knows best. We are coming to Mutare in full force and we urge people to come and witness the show,” said the goat-bearded left handed guitarist.
The vast experienced songwriter last performed at the same venue three months ago.
Show organiser and proprietor of the night club, Boniface Nyamanhindi, urged fun lovers in Mutare and beyond to come in their numbers and celebrate Unity Day in style.
“It is a very important day to all Zimbabweans. We have achieved a lot as a country because of unity. We are glad to host one of the most experienced musicians in Zimbabwe. He has never disappointed before. We are guaranteed of a night of bliss,” he said.
