Serviceman shoots at in-laws, court told

pointing a gun at someone.
He was remanded out of custody to October 10.
During cross examination, investigating officer Sergeant Louis Teera said Mubaiwa fired the shots from a 9mm CZ pistol. One of the bullets got through his in-laws’ car, while the other hit a wall.
“The accused discharged a firearm towards his father-in-law and after attending the scene, we found two spent cartridges and bullet heads,” said Sgt Teera.
“One bullet head went through a Nissan Sunny that was parked in the garage and ended up lodged in a Bible that was in a laptop bag.
“The other one hit a wall and fell on the floor with the other cartridge found close to the main gate.”
Sgt Teera said 12 rounds were recovered. Prosecutor Ms Tracy Mundanga alleges that on the day in question police officers were investigating reports that Mubaiwa had threatened to kill both his wife and her mother.
This resulted in the wife fleeing the matrimonial home to her parents’ place. Mubaiwa allegedly called his wife and ordered her to return home.
The wife reported the threats to the police. At around 6pm, Mubaiwa allegedly drove to his in-laws’ house in the company of his sister and her husband. On arrival, Mubaiwa’s sister tried to persuade the wife to return home, while her husband and Mubaiwa remained in the vehicle.
It is alleged that when the police approached the vehicle, they only found Mubaiwa’s brother-in-law in the car.
Mubaiwa had hidden at a nearby footpath from where he pulled out a 9mm CZ pistol and fired two shots.
The police officers ran and sought refuge in the house.
The bullets damaged the vehicle belonging to Mubaiwa’s father-in-law and the wall.
The court heard that Mubaiwa was arrested the following day.
