Man gets 3 years for attempted murder

Mupindu however, convicted him after the prosecution proved a prima facie case against him. In his defence, Mhondera claimed that he acted in self-defence  after his assailants hit him with a golf stick during the scuffle.  Ms Mupindu sentenced him to five years behind bars, but conditionally set aside two years for the next five years. In sentencing him, Ms Mupindu considered that Mhondera was a first offender.
She said the court felt a custodial sentence for a period would scare him off the life of crime.
