Shabanie Mine 1-2 Buffaloes
A SPIRITED second half display by visiting Buffaloes and three minutes of defensive “madness” by Shabanie Mine was all the visitors needed to collect their first set of maximum points at Maglas Stadium since they gained promotion in 2012.
The visitors got their all important goals from Roy Mwenga in the 72nd minute and Prosper Matizanadzo on 74 minutes while the hosts had found the opener through the right boot of Daniel Chakupe in the 32nd minute.
Former Monomotapa midfielder Zvikomborero Biseki needlessly flicked the ball back to his defence and Buffaloes captain Jacob Muzokomba intercepted the ball and sent through Mwenga who was all alone with no maroon shirt in sight.
The pass forced goalkeeper London Zulu to come out of his line and Mwenga cleverly lobbed the ball into the nets in the 72nd minute.
As if it was not enough two minutes after the goal the hosts conceded a corner kick. Phillip Thembani’s corner kick went past a badly organised Shabanie defence to the right and it was met with a firm header by the unmarked Matizanadzo to silence the drum beating Shabanie Mine fans.
“I feel so happy to have collected maximum points from Maglas after two seasons of trying. We were playing according to instructions from the Doctor of Football, Luke Masomere. It was a great victory and we dedicate the victory to Tafadzwa Mombeshora who celebrated his birthday on Saturday,” said Timothy Masachi, the Buffaloes assistant coach.
Masomere was not present as he is attending a coaching course in the capital.
