ZANU-PF Bulawayo province will today hold an inter-district youth conference on Zim-Asset expected to be addressed by party secretary for youth affairs Cde Absolom Sikhosana and Minister of Youth Development Indigenisation and Empowerment Cde Francis Nhema.
Initially, party secretary for administration Cde Didymus Mutasa was also expected to address the youths but Zanu-PF Bulawayo deputy youth secretary for information and publicity Cde Tumelo Msimanga said he would no longer attend.
“The conference will be held tomorrow (today) at Davies Hall starting at 9AM. Cdes Nhema and Sikhosana will address youths drawn from all the districts in the province about Zim-Asset,” he said.
“Cde Mutasa was meant to come also but the last communication we had indicates that he might not come following the passing away of Cde Stanley Sakupwanya who was declared a national hero.”
Cde Msimanga called on party youths from the province to come in their numbers for the conference as the senior leadership unpacks Zim-Asset.
“It is important for party youths to be aware of important party programmes like the Zim-Asset so we urge them to come in their numbers to listen to what our leaders will present,” he said.
Similar meetings were held in Manicaland and Matabeleland provinces last month.
Cde Msimanga said after today’s conference, they would then come up with a date to hold a provincial meeting ahead of a national congress next month.
The youth congress is scheduled for August 7 to 10 while the women’s league congress will be held from August 20 to 22 in Harare ahead of the Zanu-PF elective congress in December.
