A PHONE thief brutally assaulted his accuser with a shovel, leaving him battling for his life at Parirenyatwa Hospital, after he had confronted him for stealing his cellphone.
Owen Chadzuka, of Dzivaresekwa, appeared before magistrate Feresi Chakanyuka, charged with attempted murder.
He was remanded in custody to today for bail considerations.
On Friday, at around 4pm, Chadzuka stole Spencer Savanhu’s phone.
The next day, Savanhu confronted Chadzuka about his phone.
Chadzuka picked a shovel and struck Savanhu twice on the head.
He sustained two deep cuts on his head and is currently admitted in hospital.
