The group comprises Pastor Simbarashe Mukwacha and Apostles Mr and Mrs Chingandu all from Christian Faith Mission who have a story to share through their music.
“Accepted Times is an album that talks about how people should accept the fact that there is a season for everything under the sun. There is a time for praying and receiving the answers to the prayers,” said Mukwacha.
Experience has taught the trio that God answers prayers in His time hence the need for patience.
“Our musical journey was one that was not easy. We faced financial constraints since 2003 while we were students and ended up recording an album 10 years later, this year. Because of that, Scriptures like 2 Corinthians verse 6 helped us to realise that all people need to do is persevere. There is a time to pray and a time to be heard. That is the message we want to put across,” he said.
Mukwacha added that the album was worth the wait as they ended up producing a masterpiece. Barely a month into its release, the youthful pastor claims the music is touching the lives of many. While Shining Light as a group are comfortable branding themselves simply as gospel artistes, their music appeals to a cross-over audience.
“Our songs have a feel of traditional, jazz, jit and a touch of sungura. We decided to incorporate different genres so that we may reach a much wider audience,” he said.
Our singing is a way of spreading the gospel so we took our time in writing the songs too. God speaks to people in different ways and while at times we take inspiration from life experiences our songs are inspired by the Bible,” he said.
The youthful pastor also spoke of releasing follow up videos that he said will grace the screens by the end of the year. He also took the time to applaud gurus in the industry, Shingisayi Suluma and the Charambas for keeping the industry afloat.
He said, as a group, they admired the levels they have reached in terms of soul catching content and instrument arrangement.
