SHOCK and anguish gripped Matibi Mission Hospital in Mwenezi this morning after the decomposing body of a male senior nurse, who went missing three weeks ago, was found in a nearby river.
Frank Siziba’s body was found by his relatives in Musingwizi River after he went missing on March 6 this year.
Siziba (64) is believed to have been swept away while trying to cross the flooded river while following his wife who had left Matibi Mission to attend church in the area.
A search party comprising his relatives stumbled upon his decomposing body, which was stuck in the roots of a tree in the middle of Musingwizi River.
Masvingo provincial police spokesperson Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa said Siziba’s body was found about 5km from a crossing point along the river.
“The body will be taken for post-mortem to try and establish the cause of death, but we suspect that he might have drowned while trying to cross the flooded Musingwizi River about 3 weeks ago,” he said.
Siziba reportedly went missing after he left home on the night of March 6 saying he was following his wife, who had gone for overnight church prayers in the area.
When his wife returned and was informed that her husband had not returned after following her the previous night, a missing person report was made at Matibi Police Station on March 7.
This resulted in a spirited search for Siziba that culminated in the recovery of his remains in the belly of the still waters in Musingwizi River.
