A 36-YEAR-OLD man from Mlomwe Village under Chief Kanduna in Bulilima, Matabeleland South Province who appeared in court facing charges of allegedly killing another villager was arrested after he was sold out by shoe prints left at the crime scene.
Doubt Ncube (36) appeared before Plumtree magistrate Joshua Nembaware facing murder charges. He was not asked to plead and was remanded in custody to 19 August.
The court heard that on 18 July 2024, at around 10 pm, the now-deceased Senge Ncube left Mbila Business Centre heading home in the company of Jimmy Ncube, who then left him after about 50 metres from the shops.
It is reported that on July 19 at around 7 am, Senge was found lying unconsciously on the roadside. The court further heard that some shoe prints were observed at the scene.
These shoe prints were tracked to the accused person’s place, where he was found still wearing the same shoes. Senge was ferried to Plumtree District Hospital and pronounced dead upon arrival. A report was made to the police, who examined Senge’s body and observed a cut at the back of the head, a fractured right arm, and bruises on the shoulder and elbow.
Police investigations led to the arrest of Doubt. Selestine Madziwa appeared for the State.
