Shortage of LP gas continues

THE shortage of liquefied petroleum (LP) gas continues in the country with retailers taking advantage of scarcity of the commodity to increase prices which are now pegged at $3,95 per kg from around $1,95.

This follows a report that the South African-based supplier of the gas has gone on annual shut down.

An official from one of the major suppliers who refused to be named, said many retailers were facing problems in receiving gas.

“There are a lot of players who supply the commodity in the country and we are facing the same problem like anyone else,” said the official.

The Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority last week published a statement assuring consumers that supplies would resume this week from the alternative port of Beira in Mozambique.
