Sibelo back at Hwange

UNSETTLED Chicken Inn right back Tonisani “Yeboah” Sibelo has retraced his footsteps back to Hwange after a season of unhappiness at the Gamecocks.Sibelo, nicknamed Yeboah, after the legendary Ghanaian when he was still a midfielder at Hwange Government High School, joined the Bulawayo side on a two-year contract last season when they were still under Mandla Lulu Mpofu. He enjoyed some game time and was tipped to eventually secure the right back position but found himself at the centre of club politics when he was accused of deliberately  under-performing when Chicken Inn lost to Hwange at Barbourfields Stadium.

“It’s quite sad indeed that people can stoop so low and suspect me of throwing the match. I  am footballer by profession and my livelihood comes from the pitch. We lost as a team but just because I come from Hwange some people blamed me,” said Sibelo in an interview with Chronicle Sport last year.

Hwange secretary and spokesman Burzil Dube confirmed that talks are already in progress between the two clubs for the services of the player.
“We are interested in him yes and we have since formally approached Chicken Inn who I think will not be difficult as we have good relations. The boy has been training with us with the blessings of his employers,” said Dube.

Chicken Inn secretary Tawengwa Hara confirmed receiving Hwange’s request for the player.

“We are in talks, that’s what I can say for now,” said Hara.

Chicken Inn are believed to have paid $2,000 for the player last season and might probably charge the same figure.

Meanwhile, Harare City are yet to formally approach the coalminers over the services of Francisco Zvikumbawire. Dube said the player still has a running contract with them and there was no way that the Harare outfit will register him without a clearance letter from them.

“They must not be thick-headed because it will affect the player eventually. They have not approached us but if they do, like they should, we will consider their request,” said Dube.
