MUTARE-based siblings will next week première their new movie production titled Mystic Chazi where they explore and expose the mysterious happenings that take place in sacred mountains in the eastern-border city.Sydney (33) and Livingstone Mangweka (23) co-produced the intriguing and captivating movie that will be official premièred at Courtauld Theatre on May 23.
The movie features Tawanda Tawona who acts as Kumutso.
He looks for trouble after visiting a sacred mountain and urinates in a clay pot that was possibly left by the elders of the area for rituals.
From then trouble starts for him and anyone that tries to help him. History has it that many people have disappeared in the mountain over the years forever.
Kumutso, a tourist, adapts to the new life in the mountains. He was punished by the inhabitants in the mountains who felt threatened.
In an interview, the co-producer Sydney said the main theme, among others was for the community and visitors (tourists) to respect and value the heritage sites.
“It also seeks to encourage people to tour their own local attractions and possibly try to understand what other sacred monuments means to the locals,” he said.
“Unlike most film producers who are concentrating more on comedies or dramas e tried to come up with a movie,” he added.
The movie also stars John Mandisodza, Tendai Rakabopa, Samantha Matambanadzo, Clever Nyakuni, Leonard Rakabopa and Kelvin Munharira. It was produced and directed by Optisonic Studios in Sakubva.
The movie was filmed in Murahwa Mountains near Mutare Showgrounds.
Performing artists, Buddy Bee, Lady G, Drey Drevies, Tawez and Tsotsiman will provide entertainment on the day it is going to be first shown to the public.
