ZAMBIA’s William “The Machine” Sichone won the Manicaland Classic senior men body-building title at the Golden Peacock Hotel in Mutare on Saturday.
The classic is the last event before the Zim Nationals set for Victoria Falls on November 25.
Competitors used the Manicaland Classic as a benchmark before the big showdown.
Sichone, a vastly experienced and well-travelled international bodybuilder, pocketed US$1 000.
He brushed aside challenges from some of Zimbabwe’s top bodybuilders, among them South African-based Nigel Maphosa, Ronald Manjoro, Nunurai Masosonere and Knowledge Mudzingwa, who was the defending champion.
In the men’s junior section, Ronald Manjoro was adjudged to be the best bodybuilder.
He walked away US$500 richer.
Blessing “CC Banks” Sithole, won the Men’s Physique title.
Sithole recently won the same title at the Harare Classic.
Zvishavane-based Blessing Korai walked away with the Women’s Wellness title, beating Nicola Gwindingwi to the title.
Blessing “Hunkybie” Saunyama, the chairman of the Manicaland Bodybuilding Association, is happy with what transpired on competition day.
“A total of 36 athletes took to the stage, averaging six athletes per division. This is commendable for a provincial show,” Saunyama, a former Mr Manicaland and the 2017 Mr Ironman winner said.
