SIKANDAR Raza broke his own record of best bowling figures for Zimbabwe in T20Is as the Chevrons brushed aside Rwanda in their third match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Sub-Regional Africa Qualifier B in Nairobi, Kenya.
Raza, held the previous best record of 4/8 before he went on to pick up five scalps against Rwanda with Zimbabwe making it three wins on the trot. The Chevrons beat Rwanda by 149 runs.
The Chevrons skipper finished with figures of 5/18 in his four-overs to become the only Zimbabwean to pick up a five-wicket haul in a T20I match.
Zimbabwe had set Rwanda a target of 241 runs courtesy of a 45-ball 96 runs from Dion Myers. The Chevrons finished their innings on 240/8 in 20 overs.
The East Africans were bundled out for 91 runs in 18 overs. Mayers scored more runs than the entire Rwanda batting line up.
The other wickets were taken by Blessing Muzarabani (1/10), Ryan Burl (1/18), and Trevor Gwandu (1/22). The two other wickets that fell were run outs.
Didier Ndikubwimana top scored for Rwanda with 36 runs off 42 deliveries.
Zimbabwe’s next match is against Gambia tomorrow before they finish their campaign against the tournament hosts, Kenya on Thursday.
