It was goals galore in the Northern Region Division One League yesterday as title aspirants Golden Eagles and Simba Bhora registered big wins. Golden Eagles maintained their fine form after they thumped Chinhoyi Stars 4-1 at Ellis Robin.

Simba Bhora powered to a 5-1 triumph over Golden Valley at Wadzanayi Stadium in Shamva. Log leaders Herentals Under-20 also overcame Karoi United to keep intact their unbeaten start to the season.

In the game between Eagles and Chinhoyi Stars, the hosts opened the scoring through captain Henry Manatsa in the 24th minute. Trevor Bhunu added the second after 35 minutes, before the visitors grabbed what was to be their consolation two minutes later. Eagles then regained control of the game in the 43rd minute when Tatenda Haparazi found the target. The match was over as a contest six minutes from time when Claudio Mapoka rose from the bench to score his sixth of the season and Eagles’ fourth on the day. Mapoka has now scored a goal in each of Eagles’ last five games.
