Simba Mhere dies in car accident

SIMBA MHEREZIMBABWE-BORN television personality Simba Mhere died in a car accident in the early hours of yesterday in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The 25-year-old Mhere was a presenter with popular SABC 3 lifestyle programme Top Billing after he won the show’s presenter search competition in 2010.

SABC confirmed the popular presenter’s death in their website where they quoted his manager Lorraine Meizel confirming his passing away.

“He was going places. He was the most amazing human being. Gentle, kind and loving, honest, hardworking. He was everything; he was the most extraordinary person. I saw him on Thursday. And I always used to kiss him on the neck and always used to love it and shake,” Meizel is quoted as saying.

Eight people reportedly died in the crash with some of the injured having to be airlifted and rushed to hospital.

Born in Zimbabwe, the late presenter moved to Johannesburg when he was one-year-old, with his parents.

He attended Randpark High School and then went on to study for a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Accounting at the University of Johannesburg (UJ).

Mhere has worked as a voice-over artiste and a master of ceremonies for some of South Africa’s most prestigious events, one of which was the Miss South Africa pageant in 2013. — SABC/Channel24
