Simbisa Brands, a leading fast-food chain, served 24.8 million customers in the six months to December 2024, recording a four percent year-on-year revenue growth.
In its financial results for the half-year ended 31 December 2024, Independent Non-Executive Chairman Mr Addington Chinake noted that the Zimbabwean market achieved this growth primarily due to a seven percent increase in customer count.
However, the period also saw a three percent decline in average spend, reflecting the Group’s strategic decision to lower prices in response to reduced disposable incomes and tight liquidity policies.
“The market expanded its footprint through new store openings, adding a net total of 38 new stores between 31 December 2023 and 31 December 2024, bringing the total to 339 stores trading at the end of the period,” he said.
