SUNGURA musician, Simon Mutambi, says he misses his late father who succumbed to stroke on February 27.

His father, Moses, died aged 97.

Speaking to H-Metro on Sunday, the Cobra Kings boss said life will never be the same without his father.

“It is very hard living without my father, who was always there for me over the years.

“My father shaped me to be the man I am today.

“When he succumbed to stroke, I was devastated to the extent that I thought that was the end of the world.

“He taught me to work hard and to be principled.

“I will always enjoy the good times that we had together as a family,” he said.

Mutambi said Alick Macheso was now his father figure.

“Macheso is my father figure at the moment and I look up to him as an artist.

“He always passes through my place each time he travels to his farm.

“He has always been my comforter in many ways because he believes in my talent.

“I am one of the lucky musicians who have benefited from him over the years,” he said.

Mutambi urged the crop of young sungura artists to learn from Macheso.

“Macheso did not get it easily as many people assume, he worked really hard.

“His journey to acclaim was not easy as he toiled tirelessly.

“When he gives back to society, he really means that,” he said.
