Today, Sibanda will be at Waverly Hotel before another show at Bambi Lodge in Rangemore tomorrow.
Sibanda, known as the “Big Boss”, a name given to him by fans back then after releasing their third album Nimncitsheleni as combined Ndolwane Super Sounds, has been holding shows outside Bulawayo since the time he released his first solo album two months ago.
Since September, the new look Ndolwane Super Sounds has held shows in Lupane, Mbalabala, Ntabazinduna, Inyathi, Esigodini and Filabusi.
In an interview yesterday, Sibanda said his latest album Bakhuzeni was getting a resounding welcome from fans, with track number four, Sekukubi being the fans’ favourite.
“We have been holding shows outside Bulawayo and I am happy with the way fans are receiving our music. It shows they still love us,” said Sibanda.
He will be playing for the first time in Bulawayo since the split with Charles Sibanda, who now leads a splinter Ndolwane and now uses the surname Zwane.
Sibanda promised to perform at his best and urged fans to come in their numbers.
“I know what fans want and what they expect from me. I will dish out songs from the album Bakhuzeni, because the fans are eagerly waiting to see us on stage after listening to the songs. Our promise is, what they hear on CDs is what we do on stage,” he said.
“We will also play several songs from all other Ndolwane Super Sounds albums, although we will give them a special segment of Bakhuzeni. People are mesmerised by Sekukubi and once we play it everyone goes wild.”
Sibanda and Zwane went separate ways last year and both recorded solo projects this year.
Sibanda has four dancers and six instrumentalists while he does lead vocals.
“I am very happy because the album has made me discover who I am. I know we have people who are not happy with what we are doing and would want to find ways of bringing us down but fans are commending us,”he said.
When the two singers parted ways putting an end to a partnership that had gone for close to two decades, they agreed that each of them would use his name ahead of the name of the group.
They also agreed to play the old Ndolwane Super Sounds songs at each show to cater for both of the groups’ fans.
After Rangemore, Sibanda said he would take his act to Plumtree, Victoria Falls, Shangani and Gweru.
