NEWLY elected Matabeleland Golf Association (MGA) president, Vusumuzi Sinyoka has said his main aim will be enhancing junior golf development to ensure and guarantee that the game remains sustainable within the region.
Sinyoka was elected as the new president last Friday following an annual general meeting (AGM).
He officially took office on Sunday after the conclusion of the 2025 Matabeleland Amateur at Bulawayo Country Club.
He took over from Vincent Makamure. Sinyoka is no stranger to golf administration, having also been the captain of Harry Allen Golf Club.
Speaking to Zimpapers Sports Hub, Sinyoka said it is an honour to serve as the president of MGA while also outlining his vision.
“It is an honour for me to be elected as president of MGA. I am happy to serve the province and work for the development of golf, with a particular focus on developing our junior golf to ensure continuity and guarantee that the game of golf remains sustainable. I am happy at this moment to take up this role,” said Sinyoka.
He added: “The key future plan is to enhance the junior golf programme because we believe that once we nurture our juniors and get them into the fray of things, we will have a strong Matabeleland golf society or community.
“We will ensure that it’s sustainable and that there is continuity. At the moment, we have a number of seniors who are members of the golfing community, once we bring in more juniors, we will develop the game and make sure that it goes forward.”
Sinyoka will be deputised by Hazrine Hapazari, while Ben Shava has been appointed treasurer. Byron Sengweni will serve as the new secretary, with former president Victor Suerga taking on the role of head of the technical committee. —@brandon_malvin
