Sisters launch book

FIFTEEN female authors, from the Women Writers Support Network, have launched a book titled Seasons.

It is meant to focus on women’s societal management.

Sympathy Mangwenya, who is the coordinator behind the project, said:

“It is one thing to have a dream, and another when people believe in it.

“Women Writers Support Network was born out of the need to bring women together and benefit from the power of writing therapy.

“The group consists of powerful women who want to make a change and  they are all working towards it.”

Sympathy revealed that it was the first time for most of the women, from the group, to be published authors. “It hasn’t been easy, we started by bringing coaches to train them on various writing techniques and genres.

We have engaged writers like Memory Chirere, Takemore Mazuruse and Phillip Chidavaenzi as an effort to uplift the feminine gender.”

One of the authors, Tsungie Manyeza, also revealed her feelings.

“The anthology has been the launch pad. I have been waiting for this chance to fulfill my dream of becoming a published author.”

“Many thanks to Sympathy for pioneering the women’s group where the anthology idea was mooted.”

She added: “Sympathy has made an effort to bring women together and make them flourish in their dreams hence she has made an impact in their lives.

“I am very excited about the book launch. It’s been a long awaited event, not the launch only but for most of us who co-authored the book.”

“It’s been a long awaited fulfilment of a dream.

Joining Sympathy’s Women Writers Support Network group last year marked a turning point for me. I can say with confidence, I’m a writer.” The stories were authored by women from various sectors and of different ages.

All the women were handed medals for having persisted in this tough journey until their success.
