Six killed in Egypt protests

At least six Egyptian protesters have been killed in fresh demonstrations against military-backed regime in the capital Cairo. Yesterday, Egyptian security forces clashed with protesters who were rallying against the military overthrow of president Mohamed Morsi back in July.
An 18-year-old student was among those killed in the unrest. The clashes also left dozens of protesters wounded while more than seventy others were arrested.

Latest figures show Egypt’s military-backed government has jailed nearly 16 000 people since July 2013, when president Mohamed Morsi was ousted.

The United Nations Human Rights Council recently expressed concern over the Egyptian security forces’ heavy-handed crackdown and the killing of peaceful anti-government protesters.
