Angolan diplomats Eddy Poerwana and Pedro Hendrik Vaal Neto respectively yesterday, Cde Khaya Moyo said the MDC formations were employing delaying tactics so that elections would not be held this year.
“We are shocked the drafters are starting to do their own thing which is not what the people said during the outreach programme,” he told Ambassador Poerwana.
“What they are doing is certainly not acceptable because it ceases to be a people’s constitution because it’s now being dictated from some capitals.”
Cde Khaya Moyo said Zanu-PF was determined to have elections this year.
He told Ambassador Neto that if the delays continued, the party would consult Sadc with a view to have elections held under the Lancaster House constitution.
“The challenge we have with our collegues who are delaying this constitution is because they have assessed on the ground and realised that Zanu-PF has a huge following, thus they are worried that they will have to start looking for jobs after elections.
“The constitution should be concluded and it must be in line with the views expressed by the people during the outreach,” he said.
Cde Khaya Moyo hailed relations between Zimbabwe and Angola saying the two countries had a lot in common.
He said there was need for Zanu-PF and MPLA to consolidate relations by being involved in economic advancement of the two countries.
Cde Khaya Moyo said Zimbabwe and Indonesia have common interests. He said Indonesia could use Zimbabwe’s indigenisation and economic empowerment initiative by partnering locals in business.
Ambassador Poerwana said President Mugabe’s stance on economic emancipation had made him popular in Indonesia.
He said his country was against the imposition of the illegal sanctions by the European Union and the Americans.
Ambassador Neto said the imposition of the illegal sanctions had brought misery on Zimbabweans.
He said there was no need for foreign countries to interfere with Zimbabwean processes because Zimbabwe is sovereign state.
