SLAIN armed robber Godknows Machingura’s suspected accomplices’ were back in court yesterday where their application for refusal of further remand was dismissed.

The accomplices —Ndiafhi Makhado (39), Andrew Masubelele (38), Paul Zhou (55) and Emmanuel Makamo (22) — appeared before magistrate Donald Ndirowei seeking refusal of further remand.

Their case of conspiracy to commit robbery was brought back to the remand court for management pending finalisation of investigations.

Magistrate Ndirowei dismissed the application that was filed by Masubelele, Makhado and Makamo, who are South African nationals, saying there was considerable progress in the investigations and it would not be in the interests of justice to release them while investigations are at an advanced stage.

They are back in court today for Zhou’s bail ruling.

The gang was arrested after the police was tipped off that they were planning to rob a businessman.

The police raided a guest house that they had booked and a shoot-out occurred.

Machingura and Jabulani Ngobeni were shot dead.
